SafeSitter Essentials with CPR Saturday, August 31

A SafeSitter Essentials with CPR class will be held on Saturday, August 31. The class is designed to prepare students to be safe when they're home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. The instructor-led class is filled with fun games and role-playing exercises. Students even get to use manikins to practice rescue skills like choking rescue!This course is recommended for students in grades 5-8, class fee is $30 and it includes a student workbook, drawstring bag, notepad, flashlight and bandaid dispenser.

State lifts prescription requirement for wheelchair repair through Medicaid

By Robin OpsahlIowans using wheelchairs through the state Medicaid program will no longer need a prescription and in-person doctor visit to get their wheelchairs repaired after a policy change by Iowa Department of Health and Human Services.State Rep. Iowa's Behavioral Health Services System Combined

On May 15, 2024, House File 2673 was signed into law. Under this legislation, Iowa will: Combine the work and funding for mental health and addictive disorders into a Behavioral Health Service System, guided by a statewide plan, focused on ensuring equitable access to prevention, treatment, recovery, and crisis services.  Transfer the management of disability services from the local Mental Health and Disability Services (MHDS) Regions to the Division of Aging & Disability Services.
